When you have an auto accident injury you probably can't believe how much pain or discomfort you are actually in. Its normal to experience the following:
You can't sleep normally - you wake from pain, or toss and turn all night
You find you are irritable at work, home, and/or with your family
Driving is painful
Sitting and/or standing is painful
You are unable to get your normal work load done
You may have daily/weekly headaches now
Let's take a look at what you can do to decrease your pain, and what to expect from your treatment you do decide that therapeutic massage is the right therapy for you.
If you have never had an auto accident injury, I am sure you are currently a bit shocked by how much everything actually hurts, and how difficult it is to do normal daily activities. When you have an auto accident injury, your body is tossed around the car like a rag doll.
Your seat belt keeps you from serious damage, but your soft tissues, ligaments, tendons, fascia, and muscles are stretched, strained and sprained during this trauma. Oddly these soft tissue injuries normally will take longer to heal than broken bones.
Have you noticed how you automatically reach your own hands up to those sore shoulders, or aching back and just give yourself a little massage to try and make the pain go away?
Massage feels good. It feels good because massage therapy is working out the spasms and inflammation which are at the root of your pain.

Picture a tube of toothpaste, where you push the paste up from the bottom. Your muscles are a little like the tube, your massage therapist is gently and effectively pushing the inflammation out of the muscles, back up to where your body can dispose of it, leaving you with less pain.
Research shows reducing inflammation, and increasing the amount of oxygen inside your muscle cells will increase how fast you heal
Hands on treatment, directly on your injured muscles
Massage decreases scar tissue from injuries
Muscles in spasm are weaker and more painful, massage significantly reduces these muscle spasms.
